At the close of the first leg of the 145th session of the General Assembly, the American Heart Association can count a significant victory in tobacco prevention and major progress on other issues this session.
Not only did we make strides in reducing youth smoking by raising Delaware’s cigarette excise tax by 45-cents, but discussed a strong menu labeling bill for the state. We also reintroduced our heart disease and stroke prevention legislation. Our fantastic lobby day volunteers built a strong case for support and we’re eager to work on advancing both bills next year. We look forward to furthering our advocacy efforts with your help. Stay tuned as we continue on this worthwhile journey!
