  • Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of CPR!

In 1960, a group of resuscitation pioneers combined mouth-to-mouth breathing with chest compressions to create Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, the lifesaving action we now call “CPR.” This action, when provided immediately after a sudden cardiac arrest, can double – even triple – a victim’s chance of survival.

Join us throughout this anniversary year as we celebrate CPR and the people whose lives it has saved over the last 50 years!

  • You're the Cure

You don't have to be a doctor to save lives. Just be willing to deliver a lifesaving message to public officials whenever you can. Maybe you've already participated with the American Heart Association before by walking in a Heart Walk. Or perhaps you've helped organize a gala event. Maybe you even helped someone survive a heart attack or stroke. At moments like these, You're the Cure. Even if you're someone who wants to get involved for the first time, you can be part of the cure.

  • Take Action
    • Our action alerts (which you will receive via email) are the BEST way to make your voice heard by your legislators regularly! The email we send will give you a brief synopsis of the issue and a link to the alert. It only take 3 clicks and just seconds of your time to send the email on to your legislators!
  • Forward Alerts
    • Share our alerts with family, friends, colleagues or anyone you know that may be interested in the issue! The email you receive from us can be forwarded to anyone - they can use the same link to respond to the alert (they will not be logged in to your account). Share the Cure today!
  • Meet with Legislators
    • Meeting with your legislators face-to-face is highly valuable and key to building a relationship with them. Most legislators have offices in the district somewhere and are happy to have meetings with constituents. If you are interested in meeting with your legislators to advocate for American Heart Association priorities, contact Melissa Brown, our Grassroots Director, at melissa.brown@heart.org

  • Attend Lobby Day
    • Each of our states hosts a Lobby Day annually, usually in the spring. Lobby Day is an opportunity for You're the Cure advocates from around the state to convene at the capitol to meet with their legislators and advocate for an important, hot-topic issue. Many advocates find the experience extremely rewarding.
