A new report from the Kaiser Family Foundation's Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured (KCMU) examines how state Medicaid agencies are preparing for a lead role in implementing the new health reform law while continuing to deal with the impact of the recession. The report is based on interviews with state Medicaid directors, which helped outline how states are addressing increased caseloads and weakened tax revenues. It also summarizes state strategies for preparing to implement healthcare reform.

State Coverage Initiative Report Released
The new State Coverage Initiative (SCI) program report that was released last week outlines state policy options in reference to the national reform of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Ohio was one of 14 states chosen to participate in this program, and recommendations come from a team of 45 leaders, who believe these are the best options to extend coverage to Ohio's uninsured.
