The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently issued the “State Indicator Report on Fruits and Vegetables, 2009,” which for the first time includes information on fruit and vegetable consumption for each state. From 2000 to 2009, the overall prevalence of consuming fruit two or more times per day decreased from 34.4 to 32.5 percent; and in 2009, no state met the Healthy People 2010 targets for fruit or vegetable consumption.
