Delaware Government Relations Director, Jonathan Kirch, in partnership with the Division of Public Health, convened the 3rd Annual Summit of the Delaware Healthy Eating and Active Living Coalition on November 16th in Dover. Delaware HEAL was formed in 2009 with more than 100 members to reverse the tide of obesity and related chronic diseases among Delawareans by facilitating opportunities for physical activity and healthy eating. The coalition provides statewide leadership and coordination of physical activity and healthy nutrition programs, and serves as a catalyst for developing obesity prevention efforts.
The theme of this year’s summit was “Celebrating our Success” and presentations and posters were offered by the Sussex Child Health Coalition highlighting their community impact and also by the Institute for Public Administration highlighting the development of walk-ability and bike-ability assessment tools for local planners and leaders.
