  • Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of CPR!

In 1960, a group of resuscitation pioneers combined mouth-to-mouth breathing with chest compressions to create Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, the lifesaving action we now call “CPR.” This action, when provided immediately after a sudden cardiac arrest, can double – even triple – a victim’s chance of survival.

Join us throughout this anniversary year as we celebrate CPR and the people whose lives it has saved over the last 50 years!

  • You're the Cure

You don't have to be a doctor to save lives. Just be willing to deliver a lifesaving message to public officials whenever you can. Maybe you've already participated with the American Heart Association before by walking in a Heart Walk. Or perhaps you've helped organize a gala event. Maybe you even helped someone survive a heart attack or stroke. At moments like these, You're the Cure. Even if you're someone who wants to get involved for the first time, you can be part of the cure.

You’re the Cure at the State Capitol
American Heart Association Advocacy Day 2012
Bringing legislators and their constituents together to increase support for mission-related public policies

Monday, February 6, 2012
Capitol Building, Harrisburg

Seldom in one’s lifetime, are we given the opportunity to personally save a life. Joining the American Heart Association and their “You’re The Cure Network” enables you to do just that. It is an easy and simple thing to do, and it has become one of the most rewarding experiences of my own life. I’ve discovered that you really don’t have to be a doctor to help heal the sick. Won’t you join us in our State Capitol as we seek to better the lives of many who could be affected by the No. 1 and No. 4 killers of all Americans, heart disease and stroke? It just may be the best thing that you have ever done too!
--Gene Juillet, Schwenksville, PA

The American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association invites you, your family and friends to join us on Monday, February 6th for our annual Advocacy Day at the State Capitol in Harrisburg. Advocates from across PA will be gathering to celebrate February as American Heart Month and participate in activities that will highlight the importance of heart health awareness.  Your voice can help save lives and build a healthier tomorrow for all Pennsylvanians!

Heart disease and stroke are the No. 1 and No. 4 killers in the nation. As a member of the You’re the Cure network, you know that these are critical issues. However, your legislators may not – but you can make a difference! Join us and help educate legislators on heart disease and stroke and urge them to pass policies to save lives and reduce disabilities. You have the power to influence public policy decisions that affect all of us – the power to make a difference by making your voice heard!

LEGISLATIVE ASKS: Participants will be meeting with their legislators to advocate support for the following public policy issues:

Support for Senate Bill 351 – Extending Good Samaritan Protections for CPR bystanders and businesses wishing to place an AED.
Support for House Bill 1400
It's easy!  We'll take care of making appointments with your Senate and House members.  All you need to do is register and be there ready to make your voice heard on February 6th. Remember to WEAR RED!
