Great news! Thanks in large part to advocates reaching out to our lawmakers, a bill that could save the lives of many of West Virginia's smallest citizens passed the legislature and is awaiting the Governor's signature!
Unfortunately, some newborns with heart defects can initially appear healthy and are sent home with their families only to find out--sometimes too late--that there's a problem. Pulse oximetry is a simple, inexpensive, painless bedside test to determine pulse rate and the amount of oxygen in a baby’s blood, which can help detect a critical congenital heart defect (CCHD) before a baby is released from the hospital.
