    In 1960, a group of resuscitation pioneers combined mouth-to-mouth breathing with chest compressions to create Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, the lifesaving action we now call “CPR.” This action, when provided immediately after a sudden cardiac arrest, can double – even triple – a victim’s chance of survival.

Celebrate Ohio's Smokefree Casinos!

Through a $20,000 grant from the Americans for Nonsmokers’ Rights Foundation, AHA is leading a new initiative in Ohio called Celebrate Ohio’s Smoke Free Casinos. Ohio voters approved a constitutional amendment in November 2009 to allow casinos to be built and operated in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, and Toledo. As you know, Ohio has a comprehensive statewide smoke free law; therefore, the four casinos will open beginning in May as smoke free facilities.

Celebrate Ohio’s Smoke Free Casinos will implement a variety of positive messages and events surrounding the opening of the casinos where the health of both employees and patrons will be protected from the dangers of secondhand smoke. We are excited about the opportunity to celebrate this smoke free best practice which can have positive implications for other states across the country. Join us May 18th for our Toledo Celebration!
