The new law will require the PA Department of Health to recognize primary stroke centers in Pennsylvania and direct the Department to adopt specific measures that will promote better response rates and quality of care provided at the EMS level for stroke patients.
Thanks in large part to stroke advocates who attended PA Advocacy Day on February 6th and to those who have called and emailed their lawmakers, this Stroke Month we all have reason to celebrate after the Senate unanimously passed HB 1400 on May 8th, clearing the way for Governor Corbett’s signature. A non-controversial procedure must occur in the House first, but once it does, the bill will head to Governor Corbett’s desk where he is expected to sign the bill into law.
