  • Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of CPR!

In 1960, a group of resuscitation pioneers combined mouth-to-mouth breathing with chest compressions to create Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, the lifesaving action we now call “CPR.” This action, when provided immediately after a sudden cardiac arrest, can double – even triple – a victim’s chance of survival.

Join us throughout this anniversary year as we celebrate CPR and the people whose lives it has saved over the last 50 years!

  • You're the Cure

You don't have to be a doctor to save lives. Just be willing to deliver a lifesaving message to public officials whenever you can. Maybe you've already participated with the American Heart Association before by walking in a Heart Walk. Or perhaps you've helped organize a gala event. Maybe you even helped someone survive a heart attack or stroke. At moments like these, You're the Cure. Even if you're someone who wants to get involved for the first time, you can be part of the cure.

Thanks to the nearly 100 advocates who visited their lawmakers on Advocacy Day, February 14th, as well as the many phone calls and emails sent by ALL our fantastic advocates, two heart-health victories were achieved in Kentucky's 60-day session!

Senate Bill 110 clarifies statues regarding shared use agreements between schools and other organizations making it more likely that schools will open their facilities for increased physical activity opportunities after school hours. Also making it all the way through the legislative process this session was House Bill 467, which will establish a statewide stroke registry, resulting in fewer deaths and reduced disability for Kentucky's stroke victims.

In addition, the Smoke-Free Kentucky Bill, House Bill 289, was heard and voted favorably out of the Health and Welfare Committee--a small but important victory in the fight for a Smoke-Free Kentucky! Please take a moment now to let your lawmakers know you want Kentucky to be the next smoke-free state!
