No Funding for Prevention Leaves Pennsylvania's Kids Vulnerable to a Lifetime of Tobacco Use!
You're the Cure GRA

Unfortunately, as a means to help balance this year's budget, we've learned that lawmakers are looking at depleting Pennsylvania's tobacco settlement funds, which have been specifically dedicated to funding programs that prevent tobacco use among young people. It's critical that we continue to fund tobacco prevention programs to keep our kids from smoking because the tobacco companies are certainly spending record amounts--$533.9 million in the Commonwealth--marketing their deadly products.
No Funding for Tobacco Prevention in PA Leaves Our Kids Vulnerable to a Lifetime of Addiction!
In addition, Pennsylvania remains the only state in the country without a tax on smokeless tobacco. This has opened the door for more and more youth to use smokeless tobacco products, which are flavored, aromatic, and cheap -- all designed to appeal to and addict our young people. A price-based tax on these "other tobacco products" would reduce use and bring in much needed revenue that could be used to continue to fund effective tobacco prevention programs. A win-win for Pennsylvania!
Please urge PA's lawmakers to take a stand for our children -- to not cut funding for tobacco prevention and cessation programs, leaving our children vulnerable to lifetime of tobacco addiction!
